The Pampulha complex
Around the artificial lake of Pampulha, where the inhabitants make their daily career, there is the beautiful architectural ensemble designed by Oscar Niemeyer, his first works, dated in 1940. Ordered by then-mayor, Juscelino Kubitschek, the works were part of a project to build a set of buildings around the lake, which consisted of a casino, a lounge, a Clubhouse, a church and a hotel. And, except for the hotel, all the works were finished.
The first building that was finished was the Casino, with strong influence of the architecture of Le Corbusier. Until 1946 it was in operation, but President Gaspar Dutra banned gambling in the country and the site was closed, opened later, in 1957, as an art museum, the Museum of Pampulha.
Igreja da Pampulha
The church of San Francisco de Asís, or Igreja da Pampulha, which shows in its architecture the plasticity of concrete, with a canopy that had only been used in hangars. The church is one of the postcards of the city, with 14 tile panels by Cândido Portinari, representing the Via Sacra.
The Central Market occupies an entire block in the center of Belo Horizonte and in more than 400 stores, it brings together the popular culture, religion, tradition and contemporaneity of Belo Horizonte.
What predominates are the famous spirits and cheeses, miners that are real delights that are worth being tested. In addition, you can try the food of mining, or buy the ingredients to prepare them at home. Esoteric and religious items and also herbs to cure various ills spread through the site, which also has toys, flowers, clothes and craft shops.

Praça da Liberdade
In the Praça da Liberdade the Cultural circuit is located, a set of cultural spaces, with the aim of gathering in one place spaces for museums, art, science, exhibition halls and shows, popular culture and all that is part of the history of the city.
In a journey through time and space, it faces gardens inspired by the famous Palace of Versailles, with fountain and stage, a reference to Paris. The buildings of the Palace of Liberty, in neoclassical style and the Niemeyer building, postmodern, refer to the 1920s and 1960s.
