However my children do have breakfast at home bluntly before starting their school day, and one of their star breakfasts is the porridge or porridge with fruit, chocolate chips and a drizzle of honey.

The truth is that porridge accepts lots of combinations, their way of making them can not be simpler and they are also very healthy and nutritious, providing a good shot of energy until mid-morning.

On the other hand I usually prepare to take to work and take in the snack, my shifts are 14 hours and a good bowl of porridge feels luxurious to face the last leg of the day and not to get home hungry for 7 years.

The secret of a rich rich porridge It is the liquid in which you are going to cook the oatmeal, since it will be the one that brings the main flavor to the oatmeal, which are tasteless by themselves. You can use water, milk, vegetable drinks, natural juices.

Almond, plum and honey porridge recipe

  • 100 gr of oat flakes (1/2 cup) soaked in 250 ml of water overnight or a couple of hours. 375 ml of cold almond drink.1 pinch salt

    – 3 or 4 claudias plums washed, with skin and halves.

    – 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 spoon of homemade granola.

    Cut the plums in half, remove the bone and add in a pan with a dice of unsalted butter over medium heat. Cook until they have caramelized a little. Remove and reserve. You can store them in a glass jar for use in other preparations.

    If you have left the oatmeal soaked, you should strain the liquid as much as possible. When soaking the cooking time will be shorter. Put them in a saucepan with the pinch of salt, cinnamon and almond drink, stir about 7 minutes until it is a creamy texture.

    Serve still warm with plums, homemade granola and a drizzle of honey.

As I told you before, I usually prepare it to take to work. In a glass jar I add it still mild and the next day is pure delight, I particularly LOVE IT! .
