After a season in which the championship is practically decanted for FC Barcelona, with five days remaining several chapters to close in LaLiga 18-19. The descent is one of them.
The decline in LaLiga 2018-19 is burning
Leaving the fight for the positions of Champions and Europa League on the sidelines, the fight to avoid the descent is very tight. Until seven teams are immersed in the battle for salvation.
Villarreal (14th – 36 points)
The "Yellow Submarine" comes from adding two victories against Leganes and Girona, a defeat against Betis and a draw against Barcelona, in the last four days.
The two consecutive wins give air to the team led by Javi Calleja, who only a few weeks ago he seemed sunk. However, the great form moment of the team, highlighting Bacca, Chuckwueze, Cazorla and Iborra, have placed the Castellón team four points down. Undoubtedly, it is quite striking that at this stage of the season this large squad has not ensured permanence.
Remaining schedule: three games away from home (Real Sociedad, Real Madrid and Getafe) and two at the La Ceramica Stadium (Huesca and Eibar). A priori it is a question reasonably affordable calendar seen the performance of the team in this final stretch. It is worth noting the match against Getafe, fighting to enter the Champions League and the Huesca, in search of a miraculous salvation.
Real Club Celta (15th – 35 points)
The Vigo club reaches the final stage after beating Girona and Real Sociedad, draw against Huesca and lose against Atlético.
Undoubtedly, the improvement experienced by the team in recent days is mainly due to the return of Iago Aspas. Since the striker of Moaña reappeared after the injury has scored six goals in four games, returning the illusion to the fans. The winner of the Zarra trophy for the last two campaigns is on track to win the trophy again, and it is now 16. In addition, this week it has been announced that it will be renewed until 2023, a hopeful news for the fans.
It is also worth mentioning the great role that Boufal and Hugo Mallo are playing in the last matches. Both are being very important in the Escribá scheme. All this has led the team to find three points above the descent.
Remaining calendar: four away games (Espanyol, Leganés, Barcelona and Athletic), one in Balaídos (Rayo Vallecano). A priori the calendar is deceptive. Although the rivals, with the exception of Rayo, do not play too much, four consecutive home games are too many for a team that fights for permanence.
Girona (16th – 34 points)
The Catalan club comes after four consecutive defeats against Celta, Villarreal, Espanyol and Atlético.
A month ago the Girona was quiet in the middle of the table, with aspirations to achieve the fight for Europe. However, the poor results have made it in a complicated situation. It is undoubtedly the opponent that worst comes to this stage of the championship.
The defensive fragility of the Catalan side, added to the bad moment of decisive players like Portu and Stuani, have propitiated this delicate situation. Currently only they are two points above the descent. However, the bad generalized moment of the team invites us to think of a disaster that few intuited after the exciting last season, in which the team finished 10th giving a recital of good football.
Remaining schedule: three games at home (Valladolid, Getafe and Alavés) and two at Montilivi (Sevilla and Levante). It's about a rather complicated calendar. Currently all the rivals are fighting, either for European positions (Getafe, Sevilla and Alavés) or for saving the category (Valladolid and Levante).
Levante (17th – 34 points)
The Valencian team comes after accumulating two draws (Espanyol and Huesca) and two defeats (Valencia and Athletic de Bilbao).
Despite adding many draws, the situation of the team is complicated. There are nine days that carries the Levant without knowing the victory, despite the fact that the season began rolling in fields such as Villamarín (0-3) or Bernabéu (1-2). However, like Girona, the situation has gradually worsened with the passing of the days.
In spite of the good moment of Rochina, that has been uncovered like the lighthouse of the equipment in these last parties, the bad general moment has caused this situation. Levante need to improve from here to the end after having deluded the fans in several stages of the season.
Remaining calendar: three games away from home (Betis, Rayo and Atletico), and two games at the Ciutat de Valencia (Barsa and Girona). A priori it seems complicated, especially for the need for Betis wins to enter Europe, and for the struggle for the salvation of Girona and Rayo Vallecano.
Valladolid (18th – 32 points)
The Pucela comes from accumulating two draws against Alaves and Getafe, and two defeats against Sevilla and Leganés.
The last games of the vallisoletano set have shown an improvement in the game. However, there are already twelve days without knowing the victory, despite the fact that many draws are added, the defeats against direct rivals take their toll. At the moment they are two points below the Levant, reason why the hope continues alive.
Further, the defensive reliability shown during the first round is conspicuous by its absence. Even so, there are reasons for hope, the club was reinforced well with the arrival of Sergi Guardiola, who although he must provide more goal, has improved the performance in attack finishing the plays. It should be noted that Valladolid has the lowest budget of the entire First Division.
Remaining calendar: three matches at José Zorrilla (Girona, Athletic and Valencia) and two at home (Atlético and Rayo Vallecano). A priori the game against Girona is the most important, since it can mark the future of one of the two teams, a pucelana victory can sink the situation of Girona even more, making it practically irreversible.
Rayo Vallecano (19th – 28 points)
The Madrid team arrives after drawing against Huesca, losing to Athletic and Eibar, and beating Valencia.
Despite the good second round of the team led by Jémez, the reaction came late. The poor results at the beginning of the season have weighed up to make salvation a very heavy slab.
Despite the position in the table, the current moment of the team is not one of the worst in the competition. The arrival of Jémez has breathed new life into the team. In addition, the great moment of form of Raul de Tomás (14 goals) has given hope to the fans. However, there are six points that separate the Rayo from the 17th position, with only fifteen to be played.
Remaining calendar: two games at the Estadio de Vallecas (Real Madrid and Valladolid) and three away from home (Sevilla, Levante and Celta). A priori it is one of the most complicated calendars, all the teams are immersed in the fight for their goals, be it salvation, European positions or saving prestige after a disastrous season, in the case of Real Madrid.
Huesca (20º – 26 points)
The Aragonese set comes from accumulating four consecutive draws against Rayo Vallecano, Barcelona, Levante and Celta.
It should be noted that, compared to the start of the season, the arrival of Francisco to the bench has improved the face of the team. Proof of this are the good results harvested in the last days. This allows to glimpse that the first round of the team has condemned them to a descent that seems sung.
Remaining schedule: two home games (Villarreal and Betis) and three matches at Alcoraz (Eibar, Valencia and Leganés). A priori it is a calendar in which you can add some points. However, the eight points that separate the Huesca from the 17th position can cause that in just a couple of games the demotion is mathematical.
