Flexible jobs can worsen the balance between personal and work life
It seems
a no-brainer Flexible work should improve work-life balance,
true? A study from Germany suggests that the opposite might be true.
What
flexible work becomes a cause of overwork can not
surprise those who are familiar with the law of consequences not

A
study of German workers has found that men, in particular,
they work more hours when they work with flexibility. It turns out that working from

men and women reported that flexible work left them with less
free time than conventional work hours.
"The
Labor flexibility helps make work and family more compatible,
but can simultaneously cement the classic role divisions between
men and women, or even strengthen them, "said the study's author,
Yvonne Lott, of the Institute of Economic and Social Research of the
Foundation.
The
double burden for women to work and care for children is insignificant
for men, Lott added. The study was based on interviews with 30,000
parents in Germany for a period of 13 years.
The
EU Directive on parental leave of 2010, which entered into force in 2012,
requires member states to implement laws that allow
parents request changes in their work patterns when they return to work
