The Attorney General's Office advances actions to counteract
crimes of this type and attack criminal structures that undermine these collective rights.
Thus, the Specialized Directorate against Human Rights Violations of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation advanced in recent days an operation that allowed the prosecution of 19 alleged members of a criminal organization dedicated to the illegal exploitation and commercialization of timber in Cundinamarca and Boyacá .
The procedure was carried out between July 22 and 24 and allowed 16 of those captured to accept the charges imputed by the Prosecutor's Office. Those involved will have to answer for the crimes of damage to natural resources, illegal use of renewable natural resources, material falsehood in a public document, bribery to give or offer and concert to commit crimes.
Among the detainees, the presence of several owners of
recognized commercial establishments in the area and whose activity is related to the commercialization of different types of wood. The evidential material collected allowed to verify that the merchants, apparently, falsified the permits and documents required by the environmental authorities for the transport of the merchandise. In this way, they made commercialization illegally.
