The heyday of National Socialism and Hitler in power led to its closure in nineteen thirty-three, after multiple searches, arrests and also interrogations of pupils and teachers. But the Bauhaus brand continues more alive than ever. Paul Klee, Kandinsky, Josef Albers, Mies van der Rohe, Mondrian … Everyone has drawn, developed and built the history of modernity, the icons of today. And to celebrate the centenary of the Bauhaus, yesterday opened in front of the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion – it could not be anywhere else – the TINY HAUS.
The historical construction of the Bauhaus developed by Walter Gropius. The TINY HAUS began its trip last March in the city of Paris and, after passing through Rotterdam, arrives in Barna, its only stop in Spain.
From Architecture to Humanities
Because of the fact that the Bauhaus was a platform to design a future that, today, is our present.
Barna turns to the third edition of the Architecture Week – from today until the nineteenth of May – with debates, workshops, paths through symbolic buildings, exhibitions and cinema in the Filmo… And, within the centenary of the Bauhaus, will be given singular relevance to the buildings 'made in' Barna that collect their legacy or impact, from the Pavilion of the Republic developed by Josep Lluís Sert to the splendid Casa Vilaró of his colleague Sixte Illescas, also of the whole avant-garde of the GATCPAC. And the smallest, the future citizens, also have much to say in the drawing of the city of the future. Hence, the Official Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya organizes the ‘Un arbre-un lloc- una ciutat’ workshop, so they can imagine a greener Barna. ten days of intensive architecture that should extend throughout the year.
